Welcome to The Station.
The Station Cafe and Function Centre (the building originally being the old Hamilton Railway Station), was moved to the picturesque University grounds in 1968 and beautifully restored. Our enchanting garden area adds to the benefit of relaxed surroundings.
We are open as a café Monday-Thursday from 7:30am - 5:00pm, Fri 7:30am to 7:00pm, and provide morning teas, lunches, afternoon teas as well as booked breakfast and dinner groups. We have a large range of hot dishes and trendy café foods with cakes, sandwiches etc. to please the palate. We have specialty coffees and a large range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available all day. Any request for later bar opening is always granted for groups. Fri night late bar, students drink deals. The Station runs as a function centre by night and at the weekends, hosting many a wedding, 21st or Xmas gathering. The indoor outdoor flow of the venue makes it ideal and very relaxing for any kind of function. We pride ourselves in having the most delicious buffets or finger foods for such occasions.
Outcatering is a big part of business for the Station Cafe and Function Centre, and we deliver food to a wide range of places which includes platters and speciality picnic baskets, plus drinks if required; 3 days notice is usually required for such requirements. Our venue is used at times for seminars or conferences. You may choose to have staff serve you with food and refreshments, or you might choose to wander out and purchase yourself from the café — its your choice. Our surroundings make The Station Cafe and Function Centre a relaxed yet professional way of holding any kind of function, wedding, seminar, special dinner, morning tea, outing etc. because of the ambience and history that is second to none.
